Overview of our School

The Floyd County Education Center (FCEC) is an educational environment for students whose behavior precludes continued attendance in the regular school program.  The instructional program is based upon normal course content and behavior is carefully monitored.  An emphasis is placed on behavioral change.  The FCEC serves students in grades 6-12.

The Floyd County Education Center serves as the Floyd County School System’s punitive alternative education program.  Two types of students are placed at FCEC.  One, they have been suspended from their home school for a violation of school policy.  Second, students are placed following a short or long-term placement in a juvenile detention facility for a criminal offense that may or may not have been school related.  Students are assigned for a minimum of one semester.

Being caught up in the fast pace of society, the students at the FCEC are struggling to survive.  Their perception of society is how to get by and still make it on a daily basis.  The students at the FCEC arrive beaten up by society through choices they make that is somewhat detrimental to their overall well-being.  Our goal is to take these beaten up students and guide their choices in the positive direction by helping others and become productive members in today’s world.
